Forty, Fifty, Fabulous

Plus Beauty Tips to keep you that way!

Ladies:  This series of articles are written for you.  They will be presented monthly with a dose of

of humor, a hint of truth, and a  little help to keep it ‘going on.’   It is time to remember who and what

you are.  A magnificent woman filled with grace, enchantment, and wisdom.  Who could ask for more?

So, please,  put down the imagines in magazines you cling to.  Shake off the media blitz with twelve year

olds parading around in couture in a size zero.  I know easier said than done.  I have seen that look in

your eyes and mine as well.   You know the look I’m talking about when  someone younger walks into

the room.  Our laughter stops and we look like a deer caught in the headlights (the fluorescent white

ones) that show crevices above our brow line.   Her long sun kissed hair brushes fall lovingly over those

perky boobs as her mini skirt hugs her sculpted thighs as stilettos click by like the sound of a favorite

song long gone by when we couldn’t spell the word ‘cellulite’ let alone  loathe the word.

Since I am a teacher and counselor, I forge into auto and my maternal common sense  clicks in I’m thinking, “Ouch,

those heels must be killing her.   Hope she doesn’t plan on dancing all night.” Was that my mother’s

voice coming out of my mouth?  My friends shift their body structure; shoulders stiffen and eyes widen.

We ‘smell’ the vibes as the center circumference of the room changes.  I shift into the role of ‘observer.’

Some women become irritated by her presence and are having a tough time not showing it. Others

snicker under their breathe.  One fifty something becomes increasingly loud in her conversation then

gulps her wine.   Another glares at her husband warning him NOT to make a move.

As I watched these beautiful women shrivel into fearful crones, I saw how ugly they had become to each other, their mates

and more importantly to themselves. I wanted to scream-stop it.  This is ridiculous-we shouldn’t envy

the young girls, the mistress, the famous.   Eye-candy girls will always be there.  They are ‘candy’ which

really doesn’t satisfy for long.  My Grandpa always told me when I was ‘eye candy’, “There is always

someone one younger and smarter around the corner; make the most of what you have.”  But, many of

us have withered and become ‘old,’ ‘mean,’ and just ‘unlikeable.’

What is wrong with loving each stage of our lives and embracing each moment with beauty, glamour, and a new found grace that can’t be

purchased in any jar?  As for the men in our lives, I don’t doubt for a second why they don’t get us.  We

don’t have a handle on ourselves.  And if for some slight of fate, you have found a wolf in sheep’s

clothes chasing chasing candy.  Let him starve, there is no nutrition in sugar.  You deserve better.  But

that is another book and this is for us.

April’s Tip for Fifty and Fabulous:

Spiritual Tip:  You are ageless.  Keep your heart and soul light.

Health Tip:  Lay off the booze-it adds calories, costs a lot of money you could us on a dance class, and can make you look ‘cheap’ and ‘desperate’ if you over indulge.

Beauty Tip:  There is a new shoe I wear around the house that is inexpensive and has toned up my legs to make them look like a runner.  I love them.  They are worth the investment;   Shapeupshoes.com or you can call 1-877-717-4273.  They are inexpensive but you need to order a size smaller than your regular shoe size.  One of my best investments on a shoe string budget.

Chat with you next month!
